Walk With Words

About This Project

“Walk with Words” is a project conceived by the Walk with Amal team, Good Chance Theatre and produced by Polyplanity Productions. The brief was to create a participatory installation and performance to support and welcome little Amal, the puppet, during her procession in the city of Ioannina.

The goal was to collectively create light boxes with messages of hope for Amal, written by refugee and local youth and use them as modules for an installation and performance in public space. 800 boxes were created by more than 15 communities, NGOs and educational institutions who were engaged in the process in the course of 2 months. In close collaboration with all stakeholders, art director Amir Nizar Zuabi and production company we were able to create a large-scale lighting installation spanning 1.2 km on the lakeside of Ioannina and to create a performance around it, co-created by the puppeteers of Handspring Puppet Company and the young participants from the NGOs.
